Layer 04
Capability Leadership
Executive ownership of the commercial outcome while the capability underneath it is being built.
The question this answers
Who owns the outcome while capability is being built?
(01) What It Is
Fractional and operating-partner commercial leadership—but framed correctly. This is not interim resourcing and it is not indefinite outsourcing of the commercial function. A commercial executive holds ownership while the mechanisms are built and internal ownership matures, with transfer and exit criteria defined at the start.
(02) Outputs
- 01Executive ownership of the commercial function or a defined commercial outcome
- 02Operation of the governance forums and cadences designed in the Blueprint
- 03Coaching and development of the internal successor owner
- 04Continuous capability movement tracked against the CCMM
- 05A defined, sequenced handover to internal ownership
(03) Timeline
Typically 6–18 months, deliberately tapered as internal ownership matures.
(04) Capability Transfer
Exit criteria are agreed before we start. If external leadership is still required with no transfer path, that is itself a capability constraint—and it gets diagnosed and built, not sustained.
